This project aims to establish a comprehensive biobank to better understand the biological and psychological mechanisms underlying Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and PTSD. Using a multimodal approach, we combine advanced MRI brain imaging, blood-based inflammatory and genetic markers, physiological monitoring (e.g., sleep and heart rate variability), and detailed psychosocial assessments.
By comparing individuals with CPTSD, PTSD, and trauma-exposed controls, the study seeks to identify distinct and shared neurobiological profiles associated with trauma-related disorders.
The ultimate goal is to uncover biomarkers that improve diagnosis, inform personalised interventions, and support resilience-focused treatment approaches, while creating an open-access resource to enable future large-scale research in trauma and mental health.
